OUR FEARLESS (and friendly) LEADERS  {

Whit Gurley owner / chief design geek

Video: Meet the Founder

After earning a bachelor's degree in graphic design at the University of Tennessee (go Big Orange!), Whit worked for four design agencies before migrating in 2000 to San Francisco, arguably the biggest design community in the nation. With a baker's dozen years of professional experience under his belt, Whit has helped a long list of clients in a long list of industries represent themselves with dignity, appeal and ingenuity. He is passionate about delivering results that are enjoyed equally by his clients and their customers, and he diligently learns as much as he can about both before breaking ground on any project. Whit stresses brand strength and cohesiveness as cornerstones of any successful business and strives to raise every client's level of professionalism and public trust.

Michael McDonald the brains behind the beauty

When he was 8 years old, Michael wanted to become a magician when he grew up. He recently realized that as a web architect and user experience designer, his dream has become true. With more than a decade of experience in software development, user experience design and web usability, Michael has a knack for making complex things seem easy. He has founded and co-founded multiple web start-ups and advocates that everything is marketing, and that a business must be both authentic and creative to thrive. He is passionate about the little things, the details, both in life and on the web.

Dan Lipe creative engineer

Having discovered that there was actually a profession for people who draw logos, Dan earned himself a degree from the University of Tennessee graphic design program, where he also discovered a love for web and multimedia disciplines. During his career, he has developed identity, printed collateral and interactive experiences for a wide variety of companies. The most recent leg of his journey has been in the world of user experience, focusing attention to the emotional and logical responses of people using interactive products. He believes in making tasks easy to accomplish and loves web analytics. "In the end, it's all about making stuff that works and is easy to use!" In his spare time, Dan thrives in the outdoors and designs his own furniture.

Jeff Newman sales maven

Jeff worked for a decade in sales at various consumer electronics outlets in Southern California before joining Sony Electronics in 1986, where he worked with major chain retailers. He was recognized as a sales leader, winning top achievement awards for the entire country, and was responsible for helping the launch of Sony's most innovative products, including its Handycam® camcorders and Wega® televisions. At Sony, Jeff was known as an "out of the box" thinker who created promotional events involving the NBA and NFL, and he has followed the same path with Angled End Athletics, where he helps players and teams create amazing brands. He is born a sports nut, so working with the pros has been a dream come true.
